The Strathmore Speaker Series is delighted to announce our May 2019 event, an evening with Dr. Ednita Wright as she examines the root causes of the opioid epidemic in America and what it means for individuals and families dealing with addition. This event will be held on Thursday, May 16th at 7 pm at the Onondaga Park Firebarn. Like all Strathmore Speaker Series events, this presentation is free and open to the public.

About Dr. Wright

Dr. Wright is a licensed clinical social worker and a credentialed alcoholism and substance abuse counselor. She holds a Ph.D. from Maxwell School of Citizenship, Interdisciplinary Social Science Program at Syracuse University. She obtained a master of social work from Syracuse University’s Falk College and a bachelor of science in human services from Empire State College. Dr. Wright is an associate professor of Human Services and Teacher Education at Onondaga Community College. Her areas of expertise include: adolescents, synthetic drugs, community building, cultural diversity, HIV/AIDS, LGBT issues, social work practice, substance abuse, and marijuana legalization. In her spare time, Dr. Wright is working on a book about Harriet Tubman’s life in Auburn.
